Great Short Anime for Some Quick Fun

Aiura

A down to earth carefree series about three girls and their daily interactions. The series is fun and rather relaxing even though it clocks at exactly three minutes per episode and of which twenty or so seconds are taken up by the ending song. It also unlike other Japanese short anime does not feel like it is sped up but it feels like it was naturally made to be reasonably short and its great animation quality reflects that. This is a perfect series to watch once a while.

Fei Ren Zai

A Chinese comedy short featuring many creatures from chinese folklore living in modern society despite their powers and quirks.  The shortness of the series works to its benefits as every episode tends to focus on a particular character which with its own particular quirks has to adjust to a working life and the comedy often originates from their inability to do so easily. This series not only is really enjoyable to watch but it can also teach you a lot about chinese folklore, so think of it as an added bonus.

All Saint's Street

A story similar to Fei Ren Zai but it instead focuses on western creatures living in modern China.  If that did not give it away for you already, yes this is also a chinese short. Its similarities to Fei Ren Zai probably end there since this one actually has a more clearer plot but it still a comedy series with a focus on the daily hijinks involving the many quirky characters. For example, we have the otaku vampire, the russian werewolf on a mission as well as the human loving devil and the quirky angel siblings. Getting to know these characters and the troubles they get involved is incredibly enjoyable.

Encouragement of Climb

A more well known and popular short that has received many seasons including one with a longer runtime than the usual japanese anime short. This is a short about a introvert girl that reencounters her friend of childhood and her childhood friend reignites her love for climbing. This is a carefree and somewhat motivating story as the main character faces many challenges but manages to overcome then and make more friends. In a sense, it is a series about expanding your horizons and it made me feel like I should do the same myself.

Bernard Jou Iwaku

Perhaps this one stands out as the most peculiar from the lot. It is a comedy series, but this series is quite niche since its jokes are reference to many books, so in sense it is a great series for hardcore book readers. The main character nicknamed Bernard-jou is someone interested in books but also one that can not stand the thought of reading books though she relishes in her knowledge of books and tries her utmost to be seen as an avid intellectual reader. This gets her in conflict with another character that is a real avid reader that loves books and absolutely dislikes people like the main character The combo of these two form the core of the slapstick comedy and it is incredibly fun even though I am not a hardcore book readers and some reference went right past me. However, I still enjoyed the overall package, the comedy is great and the references you do get are incredibly entertaining to see.  In addition, the growth or lack of in main character and her friendship with the others characters is incredibly interesting.

Punishing Gray Raven Pei Pei

A short based of a mobile game by Kuro Game. This is however a chibi series, so the characters are chibified. I have not played the game to know the characters but through this series we are introduced to many of them through their mostly silly hijinks. We have the main character Lucia, the aloof woman and her 'rival' Karina that is always trying to defeat her in everything. Alongside these two, there is a vast array of quirky characters and since not all episodes features the same characters sometimes they alternate so it is quite fresh with its comedy. This series made me check out the game, so it has that sort of power.

Summer is here and we have a load of new anime to watch, but no one's got time to watch everything. So we are here with a list of titles to watch but also to avoid, because no one wants to waste time watching a stinker series.
